KP's Textile/Fabric Bowls & A Little Life Update...

I have not been able to create much lately after injuring my shoulder, undergoing minor surgery (not to do with the shoulder), experiencing an adverse reaction to anaesthetic and then coming down with a terribly aggressive virus - again, fourth time this year and no, it's not the dreaded CV.

As such, I have been searching for something creative that I can manage without causing myself additional pain, distress, chronic fatigue or exhaustion - that is when I came across Kristin Peterson's (KP's) fabric/textile bowls tutorial.

I decided for my first KP style bowl, I would opt for some of my eco-dyed vintage fabrics and laces. The colours, tones, textures and patterns in these fabrics give me feelings of calm, peacefulness and even grounding. I guess it's that connection to mother earth.

To construct these bowls, I followed Kristins' instructions - that you can find HERE. I added some little bits and details of my own for character or in an attempt to express &/or develop my own style. (I say "my own style" but I'm still to identify or establish what exactly my style is).

I thoroughly enjoyed creating these little bowls and although I would love to have been able to add more stitching, I'm still quite pleased with them. Unfortunately my injured shoulder/back did not agree with me doing these bowls - so I was to discover the next day - therefore, I've been creativity-less once again the last few days/weeks even.

I find life a little more challenging when I am unable to create for more than a day or two.

Being creative feels as though it's a part of me these days like breathing or eating so when I'm unable to create, I feel like a part of me is missing.

What about you?

Do you ever feel like part of you is missing if you're unable to create for extended periods?

I've been searching for something creative to occupy my hands and my mind whilst my shoulder heals & this virus leaves so I've decided to come back to blogging. In theory I assume blogging couldn't be too taxing on my body or my physical health as I can remain in bed if necessary and just type or swipe.

I used to blog many years ago around the time BlogSpot/Blogger was first launched, so close 20 years ago. I blogged on and off for many years,, especially during the times I was paralysed down my left side from a brain tumour but after some pretty intense challenges in the last few years, I was forced to shut down all of my blogs/social media/online presences for the last few years. At that time that I was advised to shut them down, I never imagined I would blog ever again but here I am, about to take that scary step into the unknown blogosphere once again.

I hope I am able to share things that you find interesting, enjoyable or even helpful.

Oh, before I go, I want to ask if you've had a go at making some of KP's bowls yourself?
